From the July 2010 issue of Good Housekeeping Magazine: "D Gets an 'A'...at least when it comes to preventing colon cancer. In a huge study - 520,000 volunteers in 10 European countries - those with the highest blood levels of vitamin D were 40 percent less likely to develop colorectal cancer than people with the lowest levels. It's hard to get enough D from diet alone, so many experts now advise a daily supplement of 1,000 IU."
Could be a fad...but I know I'm taking 5,000 IU daily, prescribed by the homeopath.

Hey Betty!
I haven't commented in a while, but I am keeping tabs on the blog. Very interesting tidbits from the homeopaths. I guess we have something to learn from the Chinese. Our culture has become so fixated on pills that we don't usually look in other places to find healing. It was so nice to see you and the family this past weekend. It turned out to be a great Father's Day. Did you try the vegan chili?

Hi Beth,
Just to let you know, my husband and sister's blood work came back low in Vit. D, also. Their doctors put both of them on mega doses of it. Funny how doctors are now checking for Vit. D levels in the routine blood work, probably due to the European study. So interesting! My husband and I also take 5000 mg everyday. Thanks for the info. Love you, AB
